How We Heal - Back to How We Heal
NET
What NET is and is not:
The term NET stands for Neuro-Emotional Technique and was founded by an amazing Chiropractor, Dr. Scott Walker, who combined many components to present patients a very unique and amazing “HANDS ON” way to balance one’s emotions. The technique is a combination of acupuncture, chiropractic, neuro-linguistics and homeopathy. Overall, this is another way to restore spinal misalignments but with a deeper level of healing.

Is this a counseling session?
No. This is not a psychiatric approach but rather, a way to unlink any hidden emotions that are standing in the way of one’s healing (physical, mental or emotional). Without unlocking these hidden emotions, a person can – over time – acquire a neurological pattern in the body that cannot be corrected on its own. [top]
Does everyone need NET?
No, not necessarily. Some people are an “open book” with life, and have resolved their emotions through other means such as therapy, positive attitude, etc. [top]
How do you know whether or not you may need NET?
There are many reasons why someone would benefit from this unique approach to wellness. Let’s say that someone finds themselves “stuck” in a repetitive emotion of anger and confused why they react to things that no one else reacts to. Getting “unstuck” is one of the best roads to feeling happier and more complete as a person.[top]
Another good example would be if you were being challenged with a difficult exam or interview and you were not feeling good about it from an emotional or mental level (or even if you had already failed before and fearful that you might fail again.) Behind every fear is a memory or “snapshot” of what created that feeling originally. Once this emotional “snapshot” has been cleared, the likelihood of successfully accomplishing the task of an exam or interview is very good. Specifically, there are basic areas of life that we always check for: finances, career, home, love, family, etc. [top]
Can this help with addictions?
Yes. One of the ways I have experienced success with patients is to assist them in overcoming addictions. This could be an addiction of certain foods, nicotine or alcohol. What an NET practitioner would do is challenge the patient’s body doing “AK” (applied kinesiology) with the addictive substance against their body. If they muscle test weak, then the practitioner would double check if there is an emotional component and clear them of any NEC (neuro-emotional complex) that is blocking them from resisting their addiction. [top]
Can children benefit from this technique?
Yes, absolutely. The only reason the majority of adults “react” instead of “act” in life’s dramas is because some event in their childhood or young adolescents had affected them later on in life. (What is commonly known as “pushing your buttons”). So why not take care of any issues for children when they first go through this emotional experience? NET can clear it before it penetrates into their subconscious and re-surfaces as an adult on some negative and non-productive level.[top]
What if the child is too young to sit through the NET process by themselves?
Because there is a strong bond between the child and parent, especially the mother, a practitioner can clear the parent and the child will experience that same clearing of their own emotional behavior. Sometimes, I will have the child sit next to the mother (usually it is the mother I work with), and clear the child and mother at the same time if the child can sit up and is willing to play along with the game. [top]
Is this a painful emotional process that requires a lot of processing? No
No, this is not intended to be a long drawn out process. Each NET clearing is somewhat quick and easy.
It gets to the point so fast that there isn’t a lot of time to wallow in the emotions that may come up for the patient. And again, I will reiterate that this does substitute counseling with a licensed therapist, but a wonderful adjunct to work alongside another professional. [top]
How does the NET practitioner know what emotion needs to be cleared?
There are organ entry points along the front of the body from acupuncture meridians that gives us the primary and secondary emotions needing to clear. [top]
How do you know when the NET’s are complete and there aren’t any hidden emotions still lingering around?
There’s a double check system to make sure the patient has completed the necessary emotional clearing. The patient makes positive statements and is muscle tested to make sure they are complete. Keep in mind that this process is like “peeling off onion skins” of repressed emotions, and it may not all go away in one quick treatment.[top]
Can NET help someone who has financial difficulty?
Yes. Dr. Walker came up with a way to test a person’s entire response to money doing certain exercises that involve using play money to create an arena of financial success. It actually is one of my favorite techniques of NET because of all of the taboo’s we have been programmed to believe around money, and, as a consequence, many of us find ourselves struggling over our finances.[top]
Can NET help resolve painful areas of the body?
Yes, especially if it is a chronic reoccurring area that does not seem to respond positively to other healing modalities.
Dr. Walker actually has a low back technique for disc lesion that is quite successful.[top]
What would you say in your own words that makes NET a preferred technique over other types of healing approaches?
From my experience, both personally & professionally, NET encompasses a broad spectrum of techniques into one concise approach. It saves a lot of time and cost to the patient, and takes care of all aspects of the patient’s inability to heal on all levels: physical, mental and emotional. [top]
How long is each session?
The time spent with each patient is based on an “as needed basis”. I usually recommend a minimum of 30 minutes. Please contact Dr. Meshew to schedule an appointment: 206-547-3127.[top]
